The Semi Circle pattern of hook is popular in the Far East and the unique bend and off-set point helps to give improved hooking. The hook is less inclinded to ‘deep hook’ than a standard J hook and Semi Circles see most fish being hooked in the lips or scissors. The Semi Circle is not as curved as a standard full circle hooks and this means they are a better option when baiting up with worm etc.
The small sizes are made with a standard guage wire and are popular with match anglers after flatties and eels whilst the bigger sizes use 2x wire for extra strength when targetting rays, hounds, cod etc. The 4’s and 2’s are also working well on the boat for bream with anglers reporting an improved strike rate over normal aberdeen type hooks
